Whenever I feel like drawing a character, but need a prompt, I head over to Seventh Sanctum- a random character generator that covers everything from humanoids to MLP(Magical Legend Ponies) [link]

I also noticed that they host contests from time to time, and their current one was to use the MLP generator and illustrate what they threw at you.([link]) I owe so much to this fantastic site, I just HAD to participate (being a fan of the My Little Pony series doesn't hurt either haha)

“This small male pony is a pegasus who is smooth-talking and principled. His coat is burgandy. He has a mane that is orange, and it reminds you of a porcupine’s quills. His eyes are teal. His mark is a comb.”

I noticed the majority of the entries lacked the character participating in the environment, and so I really strove to give my pony some personality and presence in the drawing. I like to imagine that he has a bit of a southern drawl that he uses to "woo the ladies" (or birds) with, and we all know that principled ponies wear monocles and have mustaches. I also think that older characters/animals are rarely portrayed, so this gentleman is supposed to have a few years behind him as well.

If any of you have watched "My Little Pony:Friendship is Magic" I hope you have noticed the appalling absence of positive male characters. Save one or two, they are all portrayed as dim witted/mean/submissive or just are not there. That's not to say the show isn't phenomenal, because it is, but here's to hoping for a change with Gentleman Pony.

Congrats on Runner Up in the contest. I'm actually a little surprised yours didn't win, but I figured you'd get pretty high up. Your artwork is incredible. As is your design here, beautiful.
